This poll is comparing the most exclusive beach communities in the USA, so the cost of real estate is most definitely relevant. And the Hamptons tops the list with number of properties over $20 Million. It is a fair criteria to include.

I can name 10 beach spots more exclusive than the Hamptons

I mean this is for well known and exclusive areas.

The Hamptons are highly regarded and well known nationwide, as are the other three areas.

And the Hamptons have homes worth $50 million and more. So I would be interested to know?

I know Miami has some high end real estate, but I would not call Miami exclusive.

The Hamptons are an old money hot spot. Which actually all of the locations except Malibu are.

And therefore the exclusivity is not as in your face. These large estates are hidden behind landscape and why some underestimate the Hamptons wealth I feel.

Any Old Money area is largely subdued not in your face wealth, so you do not see it driving down the street, but it is most definitely there.

I thought about including Newport, RI.

But I think it does not have beaches that make it a true beach destination unlike the others. It is more of a vacation resort.

The Hamptons have 35 homes on the market now asking $20M+ with a high of $54M

https://www.zillow.com/homes/The-Hamptons,-NY_rb/

Palm Beach County has 27 homes on the market now asking $20M+ with a high of $115M (not sure why Miami was brought into the loop, but it has 56 properties at that price with a high of $56M--excluding a lot asking $70M).

https://www.zillow.com/homes/Palm-Beach-County,-FL_rb/

Malibu has 33 homes on the market now asking $20M+ also with a high of $115M (and a second property asking $100M).

https://www.zillow.com/homes/Malibu,-CA_rb/

Nantucket has 1 home on the market now asking $20M+ (I just did a search for Nantucket--not familiar with the area so not sure if I was supposed to enter another larger designation on Zillow).

Nope that sums it up for sure.

Nantucket is quite a small land area, and most people fly there by private jet.

So it is definitely exclusive, but also has less properties for sale.

I guess you could include Martha's Vineyard with Nantucket since they are two islands close to one another.

Although I find Martha's Vineyard to be a little more touristy and less exclusive overall.

Lumping the Vineyard with ACK would be considered a crime to most of those who travel to/own on Nantucket.

Yes I agree! I know people who own on Nantucket, and it is almost as exclusive as they come.

Martha's Vineyard is far more touristy.

I think Nantucket proves it's the most exclusive. 1 home on the market over 20m? Yeah.. that's a hard market to crack

Hamptons are much larger and easily to access. 66/1600+ homes for sale are over 15m there.

On Nantucket there's 5/160 homes on Nantucket are over 15m. Much smaller, exclusive market.

Hamptons are more comparable to Cape Cod rather than an island 30 miles off the coast of Massachusetts that is only accessible by plane or a $500 ferry(w/ car).

Yes, but you do it in practically every thread no matter the locale. If you can afford these places, fine. You just seem hyper focused on overpriced homes and condos, like it's some sort of badge of honor.

Martha's Vineyard is far more touristy.

It depends where on the Vineyard. Obama bought in Edgartown from the owner of the Celtics. Brian Roberts, Comcast CEO, has been there on the North Shore in billionaire row for years. Donald Graham, who sold the Washington Post to Bezos, is his neighbor. The executive jet count at MVY is bigger than ACK. Those estates are all gated. It's not like the whole of the Vineyard is little Oak Bluffs gingerbread houses.
