I agree. Progressive doesn’t equal Democrat anyway. There are conservative and centrist Dems, but I couldn’t see Tennessee’s urban areas like Nashville electing a Justice Dem “Democratic Socialist” (which like other American terms like liberal are misused as they’re really social democrats in terms of policy) like St Louis did.
That's less true these days, the centrist Dems are rare.
Virtually all of the rural counties in both states are heavily red, conservative, and religious. It basically comes down to which combo of cities is more progressive; Nashville/Memphis, or St Louis/KC. I'd say it's close, but overall I'd say MO is more progressive, and that shows in the past several elections; Tennessee has a wider margin of republican voting than Missouri. I'd say both states are closer to flipping blue; MO because it's such a narrow margin, and TN because it is rapidly growing with transplants.
Missouri used to be a swing/bellwether state. Not anymore obviously. I feel like Ohio is following Missouri’s trend and somewhere like Pennsylvania and Wisconsin are the new Ohio/Missouri.
I agree. Also considering a lot of the transplants moving to TN are conservative ex-pats from NY and Chi trying to escape liberal cities/states. Not everyone moving there is progressive or Democrat.
Exactly. People always assume that Transplants = Democrat voters.
