Not a fan of east coast beaches. They aren’t any more desirable than Texas beaches. The best beaches I’ve found are in Florida on the Gulf side and Miami area.
Interesting. Just shows how everyone's perspective is different. I lived in TX for 10 years after growing up in the NE and being familiar w/ beaches there, and I wasn't a fan of the Galveston area beaches (although never been to S. Padre) . My wife, who is TX born n' raised, used to not like beaches because she thought they were "gross". Until we moved up here, and now go regularly down the Jersey Shore, and now it's "aaahhhh, I see now why people like them".
For me, it begins & ends with the brownish water and small surf.

The report called Safe For Swimming tested 61 Texas beaches in 2020 for fecal matter and found that 55 were potentially unsafe for swimming on at least one day. 31 beaches were potentially unsafe on at least 25% of the days they were tested.
If you open up the document referenced, South Padre Island doesn't have the problem but the rest of the Texas coast is something of a cesspool. Makes sense in a state with minimal environmental law.

The one problem with NC's coast line is recurring erosion. which requires constant refilling. Its not nearly as bad as Louisiana's disappearing coast but its problematic, especially when a Hurricane hits.
I'm was raised inNC but live in TX (now been in TX for majority of my life). Please don't ever disrespect NC like this again by placing its beaches in a comparison with Texas. It's not even remotely close. NC is blowing TX out of the water. TX has South Padre but it's so far from most of us that Texans just drive/fly to Florida if we want to go to a beach.
Sorry - just one person’s opinion but I find NC beaches no more desirable than Galveston. I certainly wouldn’t spend money on a beach vacay there.
