There are a good number of large scale mixed-use neighborhoods in creation in many Southern cities. Example: Nashville has the Gulch/Nashville Yards and Tampa has Water Street Tampa. In terms of vibe, urban design & function, what city has the best/your favorite neighborhood in development?

Tampa has one of the best designs of a Floria (Southern in general...) city. If they can completely connect Ybor to owntown and really redvelop that.. it would be amazing.

However, Atlanta, Charlotte, DC and Nashville all come to mind. Raleigh too...

The west side of downtown Raleigh, consisting of Glenwood South & Warehouse District has been on a tear in the last few years, and is in the midst of robust mixed use neighborhood development. While these areas used to be busy on weekends for nightlife alone, thousands of new residents occupying recently completed housing units, 2 grocers, a food hall, office space, hotels, retail, and even more restaurants and nightlife have lifted them to 7 days a week districts. Even so, there are several significant projects still in the pipeline that will only grow the experiences.

I went to Glenwood two nights ago and the nightlife scene is amazing. The bar venues are some of the most interesting I have seen. Outside, on balconies, 8 bars per venue in some areas.. I was really impressed. The people are also really chill and vibe well.

Furthermore, the scene on weekend days and days, in general, are awesome. Great food places.

Raleigh's vibrancy is so underrated.

Most mid-sized Southern cities excel at this.

Yeah... I'm waiting on it... Just moved to the area, and it would be a dream come true. What needs to happen is for them to destroy these old military barracks-turned bargain apartments/ghetto and update them into more modern blocks: https://www.google.com/maps/@27.9562...7i16384!8i8192

Last time I passed by there, a few weeks ago, windows were boarded up, and some parking lots were vacant. One can only hope lol...

St. Petersburg’s Tropicana redevelopment looks very promising. It’s a long-term project, but when it’s eventually done it should be really nice. DTSP is already awesome so this just adds to an already special area.

Atlanta's choppiness hurt it early on. I believe Memphis and Louisville should be mentioned for these stellar developments:
