CA has a lot of companies that were minted fairly recently. Zoom is the most recent one on that list, right? That's just a decade old and Square isn't much older. Are any of these companies outside of California founded within the 21st century or even the 90s?

i always confused why market capitalization defines the size of a corporation. it measures how many stocks have not been bought. shouldnt the number of sold stocks be more important.
yeah, according to the wiki, it only counts outstanding shares:

i am not a stock broker so i am probably missing something elementary.
I don't see them listed but McDonald's should probably be on here with a market cap of roughly $175B.

And Philip Morris at $154B, Bristol Meyers Squibb at $149B, Intuit at $146B, CitiGroup at $144B, Union Pacific at $143B, and Charter at $140B. Maybe a few that are on the edge enough that the difference between the 5th and right now toed the limits. The ones mentioned though are pretty firmly in.
