Same for Sugarloaf as the most remote ski area at less than 5 hours.

So I can cherry pick a few things where New England has natural beauty that exceeds the Pacific Northwest but the scale is so much smaller that New England loses based on size.
It's not just size, it's also density of amenities within proximity to a major metro area.

In Seattle, you can get to decent skiing within an hour. With 4.5 hours from Seattle, you are in Whistler British Columbia. Totally different league of skiing. And around 2-3 hours with plenty of stops, you can get to all three national parks in the area. New England is not losing just because of its size.

Density and proximity may go to New England.

Boston has ski slopes just 11 miles from City Hall for example. The region is definitely nice and compact.

Both are beautiful, but in different ways.

New England doesn't have the same mountains, obviously, but the PNW doesn't have all the broadleaf deciduous trees that New England and most of the eastern side of the country has. Trees are a major reason why autumn is so beautiful in New England.

The West Coast generally is more grand/stunning, but New England, like the East Coast generally, has a more consistently pretty baseline.

Sadly, so much of the West is looking more and more like Mars--and it's not exactly awe-inspiring.

On the flip side, New England doesn't have the coniferous forests that the PNW has. New England is lush and green, but only for about 6 months of the year. The PNW (west of the Cascades) is lush and green all year round. New England's advantage with beautiful deciduous foliage can be easily matched by the PNW's advantage with all the evergreen.

the PNW should be compard to new england... plus the entire atlantic coast from maine to havana.

that's closer to the size of the size of the PNW and it would actually be a fair fight instead of a slaughter
