Which area in the US is better in terms of natural beauty; the Pacific Northwest or New England?

The Pacific Northwest by far.

Hmmm, this actually gets convoluted. If you live in the western side of the states of the PNW, then PNW wins but the eastern side is all desert and can’t hold a candle to New England. New England’s natural beauty is more accessible to the entirety of the region rather than just one corridor (along I-5 basically).

a lot of New England isn't naturally beautiful though. Mostly just far western New England, and coastal New England. Much of the interior woods isn't attractive at all. And not that mountainous.

I don't find New Englands natural beauty very impressive compared to many if not most other places, IMO. Its rather subdued.

Tough question. I picked New England as I haven’t visited the area much and just amazed at the beauty every time I’ve visited. I’ve visited PNW a lot, so quite possibly very accustomed to it. Both areas are beautiful.

PNW, no contest. New England is great in many ways, but the PNW is much much stronger in this category.

While both are excellent, I have the less popular opinion to favor New England. Much of New England is either mountainous or coastal, just like the Northwest. The Northwest certainly has more dramatic scenery. But while I do appreciate the dramatic scenery in the Northwest, I prefer the more intimate and "familiar" scenes of New England for daily exposure. I further love the change of seasons in New England, with spring, summer, autumn, and winter scenes all visible and accessible in all areas of New England. Nothing beats autumn in New England, if you ask me.

It depends on what type of terrain you're comparing. Both areas have different types from coastal marshes to mountains. I happen to like low rolling meadows that meet the salt sea. My next choice would be mountains as in the Berkshires of Mass-

I mean I love New England as much as anyone, and Maine-New Hampshire-Vermont is probably the closest thing you'll find... But it can't compete with Washington/Oregon.

How would you say the scenery of Mt Washington (highest peak in New England) compare with Mt Rainier (highest peak in Washington)?
