As I'm sure some of you know, it was announced last month that the brand new Utopian planned city of Telosa is looking for a location to begin construction somewhere in the US desert. It's goal is to create an efficient, inclusive, diverse and sustainable city that houses 5 Million residents by 2050. As of now the candidates are Arizona, Idaho, Nevada, Texas and Utah. Which State do you think would be a good fit for a place like this?

They need to dream biggest in finding a reliable source of water. Pull it out of the air by condensing it?

I chose Other.

Where Telosa should be built?

1. New Mexico

2. Wyoming or Montana

Why? The states are less populated and Telosa can draw people from overcrowded areas. Similar to some of the main reasons of why and where Brasília was built: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bras%C3%ADlia?wprov=sfti1

Some of the options are terrible. Arizona, Utah, and Nevada need less people, they barely have enough water to support the population already there.

To me, I would think a concept like this would make sense in the Great Lakes. So much fresh water available

Putting a city in a region where water is scarce and the surrounding landscape is barely arable is kind of quixotic. There are vast, underpopulated regions in the American South and the Midwest where water is plentiful and the soil is rich.

The originator sounds serious. But the idea is wildly implausible, for reasons that should be obvious.

This should be illegal. We don't need some maniac owning a whole city. But it definitely has no business being in the desert.

Yeah I figured the water situation could be a problem. I would’ve went with the Great Lakes region but they seem pretty set on the desert. Can’t understand why though. It is worth noteing that they’ve thrown around the idea of building somewhere in Appalachia as well, which I think would be a better option.
