Museum District is well developed and Montrose as well to a smaller degree. Current Midtown is developing fairly quickly and Rice University is giving the south portion a huge boost which was definitely the least developed portion before their investment. But again, this is what’s currently Midtown Houston
This thread can be pretty much be wrapped up by saying that Atlanta has the nation's best neighborhood named "Midtown" after Midtown Manhattan. There's other decent to great Midtowns elsewhere bu
That being said, this is a coincidence more than it is anything else. Midtown Atlanta is great and I love it there. But names are meaningless. As mentioned above, South Beach by FAR the most vibrant walkable neighborhood in the southern USA. Not Atlanta. The Uptown area of Houston is more comparable to this thread. Midtown Houston is great and improving but it's not even the third greatest neighborhood & business district in Houston (arguably not even top 5). Uptown, TMC and Downtown Houston, you can't group Midtown with those. Midtown is something different. The similarities with Midtown Houston and Atlanta is simply the nightlife. Uptown Dallas and many other business districts in USA could act as replacements.
Comparing Downtowns of difference cities is completely justified because every cities downtown will be the main CBD, but the same doesn't translate to "Midtowns".
Atlanta has a ton of neighborhoods more walkable than a ton of other southern cities. The bar isn't that high to begin with and Miami is the only other place in the southeast that competes.

And quite frankly, in my opinion, Miami does not compete.
What is walkablity if it doesn't make it more vibrant?
Vibrancy is more about big tourism and/or entertainment — it can occur regardless of overall city walkability, and vice-versa. Plenty a quaint European town/village can attest to that.
If you're gonna compare Atlanta's signature district, than you need to do the same for Houston and Miami. What is midtown Miami?? Compare it to brickell or south beach

I think don't think OP objective was to compare "signature district" but rather secondary districts near downtown. South beach is not even part of city of Miami and Brickell if I'm not mistaken is part of downtown Miami itself.
Technically Downtown is still Atlanta "signature district" even though Midtown today rivals Downtown and the two are interconnected. https://i.imgur.com/v34DyOe.jpg

I think Midtown Houston is similar situation as Atlanta's West Midtown area, Which not the same area as Midtown. It's in early stages but is largely industrial with a lot redevelops happening.
