Not weird at all since Michelin only rates specific cities. The only one that is a travesty there is New Orleans. Boston and Dallas could have many restaurants on the list, but NOLA is the special one and I say that as an Atlantan with a very strong opinion of that city that's not exactly glowing.

Michelin Guide announced its 2023 Bib Gourmand recipients today (Nov. 2, 2023).

These awards recognize restaurants that "offer a three-course meal at a reasonable price."

There were 11 Bib Gormand awardees in NYC, 5 in Chicago, and 2 in Washington, D.C.

According to the International Director of the Michelin Guides, these restaurants offer "a tasty dish at an excellent value which makes for a meal that really hits the spot."

Don't worry, we hate Tom Brady, too.

Rough weekend for Atlanta's food scene with Keith Lee.

Good - glad Keith Lee is getting Atlanta to raise its standards. Great guy too - he just wants to be fair and do the right thing for the community.

Absolutely and 100%. Atlanta is being dragged on pretty much every social media platform. The whole dining culture there is a nope.

Not really. He focused on brunch places, and if you are in the dining scene you don't even count those places. I'd sooner send someone to Waffle House than a brunch place. LOL

Here are the updates after the 2023 NYC/DC/Chicago ceremony. There were quite a few restaurants that lost stars this year. After the dust settled, NYC remained at 70 and Chicago remained at 21 after gaining and losing stars. DC was the only city of the three to gain in their total by one up to 24. Notable also was San Francisco losing one in their total earlier this year down to 26 restaurants with stars.

Current counts for 2023 are below:

Michelin Star Restaurants By City Proper

1. NYC = 70 restaurants with stars (300.46 sq miles)

2. San Francisco = 26 restaurants with stars (46.9 sq miles)

3. DC = 24 restaurants with stars (61.4 sq miles)

4. Chicago = 21 restaurants with stars (227.73 sq miles)

5. Los Angeles = 13 restaurants with stars (469.49 sq miles)

6. Miami = 8 restaurants with stars (36 sq miles)

7. Atlanta = 5 restaurants with stars (135.32 sq miles)

8. Orlando = 3 restaurants with stars (110.85 sq miles)

8. Tampa = 3 restaurants with stars (114.02 sq miles)

8. Denver = 3 restaurants with stars (153.07 sq miles)

8. San Diego = 3 restaurants with stars (372.42 sq miles)

big story to me--Chicago gained a 2nd 3-star restaurant!! That's amazing.

NY lost 1 3-star restaurant

so here are the current locations of Michelin 3-Starred restaurants in the US by urban and suburban/rural locations:

Urban
4--New York, NY(Eleven Madison Park, Le Bernardin, Masa, Per Se)
3--San Francisco, CA(Atalier Crenn, Benu, Quince)
2--Chicago, IL(Alinea, Smyth)
1--San Diego, CA(Addison)

Suburban/Rural
1--Healdsburg, CA(Single Thread)
1--Washington, VA(The Inn at Little Washington)
1--Yountville, CA(The French Laundry)
