Yeah to me NYC, LA, DC are top three actually. There's just simply the most dominant 3 in global media, relevance, culture, power, influence, etc. SF could overall still make top 4 though depending on the criteria. Economy is where SF makes a great argument for 3rd, and it's clear the overall Bay Area has surpassed Chicago there. Overall arguments for DC and SF 3/4 could be made on many levels.

Prime example. These companies want to be where the power is. I'm trying to gather how many Fortune 500 companies that brings Arlington, VA up to now?

I think this makes 3 for Arlington.

I think overall, DC Metropolitan area will be home to 19 Fortune 500 HQ's including Boeing.

DC: 2
Fairfax County: 11
Montgomery County: 3
Arlington: 3

The below are for Fairfax:

41. Freddie Mac, Tysons, financial services
83. General Dynamics, Reston, aerospace and defense
96. Northrop Grumman, Falls Church area, aerospace and defense
97. Capital One Financial, Tysons, financial services
155. DXC Technology, Tysons, information technology
289. Leidos Holdings, Reston, information technology
338. Hilton Worldwide Holdings, Tysons, hospitality
417. NVR, Reston, home construction
434. Beacon Roofing, Herndon, building materials
450. Booz Allen Hamilton, Tysons, management consulting
466. SAIC, Reston, information technology

Amazon, Nestle, and now Boeing would make the 3rd? Or 4th For Arlington?

Either way those are two of the larger Fortune 500's right across the street from one another, and the Pentagon.

I wouldn't count Amazon even as HQ2 until they employ tens of thousands there. Maybe they'll eventually be a close #3 behind Bellevue.

No I wasn't sure that it did count towards the total yet. I see now the other two Fortune 500's in Arlington are AES, and Leidos. Boeing would make the third.

HQ2 is at 5,000 employees now, and will be at 12,500 by 2025. The full total of 25k won't be until end of decade, with a potential expansion to 38k after that.

How many current Amazon employees does Bellevue have?

Last year (?), Bellevue said they'd have 25,000 in Downtown Bellevue in five years. But I believe they've upped that to 30,000 in a similar timeframe. I don't know the current number. They're currently building in the 3,000,000 sf range including owned and leased space, and they have several buildings already.

Right, the other 2 in Arlington as you said are AES and Leidos. Boeing would be #3, not counting Amazon or Nestle.

Interesting. So at about 6,000,000 sf planned for HQ2 which I believe would include a 3rd phase expansion, I wonder if that footprint would work out to be about double the employee projections than what's currently in Bellevue? How much does Seattle have like 40k plus? That's a ton of people for that area, which makes sense as to why they needed the 2nd HQ. Currently what's under construction in Arlington is 2.1 million sq ft.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amazon_HQ2

Arlington County just approved the 2nd (and largest) phase "Pen Place" to begin construction this year. The first phase "Metropolitan Park" is topped out, and opening next year. How do you think the new "Helix" stacks up against "the Spheres", and Bellevue I assume doesn't have something comparable to either, just office buildings? The locals here have already been calling it a giant glass "poop emoji" . I kinda love it personally.
