Forbes did not determine there was a single "Five-Star" rated restaurant to be found out of LA, Houston or NEW ORLEANS?

Yeah, seems legit.

Yeah, Chicago is solid. It's got 5 Michelin starred restaurants. It's also got a nice scene in the West Loop with some of the Top Chef contestants restaurants, in addition to steakhouses, and a good variety of ethnic food.

Although I think the poster was responding to the other posted who claimed it was a "world-renown food mecca." That is a little overboard, lol.

Los Angeles was also denied the highest Michelin star rating as well, Houston and New Orleans arent even considered by Michelin yet. So we have now 2 highly regarded restaurant ratings that say the same thing..

Here's another extremely respected worldwide ranking of restaurants and how North American restaurants stack up.

100 Best Restaurants in the World, 2021
#9 Pujo, Mexico City
#22 Cosme, New York
#27 Quintonil, Mexico City
#28 Benu, San Francisco
#37 SingleThread, Healdsburg, CA
#43 Atomix, New York
#44 Le Bernardin, New York
#48 Atalier Crenn, San Francisco

#55 Chef's Table at Brooklyn Fare, New York
#56 Sud 777, Mexico City
#68 Alcalde, Guadalajara
#70 Alinea, Chicago
#98 Alo, Toronto

https://www.theworlds50best.com/list/1-50

5 in New York, 3 in the Bay Area, 3 min Mexico City, 1 in Chicago, 1 in Guadalajara, and 1 in Toronto.

Also, this ranking retires perennial winners and has done so for The French Laundry in the Bay Area, as well as Eleven Madison Park, otherwise they would definitely rank as well.

in the case of Eleven Madison Park it is entirely possible it was "retired" since the restaurant changed its menu offerings completely to Vegan. Might or might not have influenced its ranking as a result.

By 'retired', I meant that they are like a permanent hall of fame for restaurants of the highest distinction.

Which it isn’t.

Dining lists (even Michelin) are useless. There is no data that can be used to back it up.

Where are all these top tier restaurants in LA you speak of? I think LA tried hard, but its just missing something.

LA is often derided for not having high quality spots and being to heavy on the casual and fast food. And drive through a. They’re mostly know for like gas station tacos, donuts, chicken and waffles and in n out. Before LA people jump down my throat in just saying that’s what a lot of people know it for. Ive never thought of LA as the same type of foodie city as Philly or even Chicago.
