New Jersey and Southern California are one of the most populated regions of the US. Both have the 1st and the 2nd largest cities in the country and both are economic powerhouses of both coasts. Both are also the most well-knowned regions of the US.
New Jersey population (NJ, Southern NY, Eastern PA, DE, Western CT):31,126,153 people
Southern California population (lower 10 counties):22,878,473 people
Which of the each of the following has better stuff:
I'll take New Jersey over So. Cal. But I'm already an East Coast cat (DC area) and I like the mid-Atlantic. The climate is tolerable and the people speak my lingo. Jersey has Philly and New York nearby so lots going on. The coast is nice and scenery is decent over towards the Delaware. But I think most people would prefer SoCal. Climate is better most of the year. Scenery is better. Plus LA and San Diego are major cities with alot going on.
Why would you put New Jersey in the title when you're really want the Northeast to be compared. Also, comparing the Northeast (or parts of multiple states) to one part of California? Really? Why is this so complicated? LOL.

This thread might as well be titled "New York and Philly suburbs vs Southern California".

SoCal easily. NJ is a dump and falling apart, lol. It is to NYC what Orange County is to LA...a bunch of wannabes who's excuse to live there is proximity to nice beaches.
