In Columbus, it would be the Arena District. Until the late-1990's, the area was home to the old Ohio State Penitentiary, which had been abandoned almost two decades earlier, and several factories/warehouses that were largely vacant. It was a true eyesore and sat on the periphery of downtown. Fast-forward to 2022, and the prison is now gone, replaced by Nationwide Arena (home to the NHL's Blue Jackets), Huntington Ballpark (AAA Clippers), and Lower.com Field (MLS Crew), hundreds of apartments and condos, numerous law firms and other white-collar businesses, and a decent number of restaurants and bars. It's mostly five or six story brick buildings, with the exception of several condo high-rises in the 10 to 20 story range. It's all very new and clean (and somewhat sterile), but is infinitely better than what was there before.
