Thank you for not ranking Atlanta number 1. The city almost takes pride in trying to brand themselves the worst. And while all traffic sucks, I’ve always been of the opinion that Atlanta does NOT over index on traffic given the size of the metro

What gets me about Atlanta is how the city is laid out. Marta is good with good ridership but the city has a non existent block system. Chicago has worse traffic in the city but the grid makes it much easier to navigate and rapid transit is great. Every others block has a bus line. It may not cut commute times but it is easy to navigate.

Atlanta traffic is not even THAT bad anyway. Basically downtown connector gets congested fairly often but even then, gridlock traffic only last for about 2 hours on that road everyday anyway, along with the northern part of the perimeter just b/c that's where all the suburban offices are built. The southern part of the city (and metro area) barely has any traffic problem.

Want bad traffic? LA, Chicago, and DC (even though the Beltway isn't exactly in DC proper except for that 0.1mi near Alexandria) has highways that are congested at all hours. Rush hour? Parking lot. Middle of the day? Bumper-to-bumper.
