According to Zumper the average rent in Minneapolis for a 1br is $1,185 a month and has dropped 4% in the last year. Minneapolis has made it easy to build new apartment buildings and as a result a ton have been built in the last few years. This is the way.

Agreed but it comes down to supply and demand. Lots of sunbelt cities make it easy to build (really just never made it hard) yet demand has so far outpaced supply.

I don't think this is the way at all. Developers will control the supply of housing to increase their return on investment. Which is why housing should be decommidified so there's no financial implications on increasing the housing supply.

Honestly, even with the increases, Austin, Dallas, Atlanta, Charlotte, Orlando, etc. are still pretty affordable so I'd imagine that's why so many people are moving to those places from up north these days.
