Two murders yesterday in Newport News. First shooting happened on the interstate in the Downtown area, a 24 y/o man was shot and crashed his car and died hours later. The second, a shooting outside of some apartments in the Denbigh area left a man dead. That puts them at 28 for the year, breaking the tie with Hampton and now has the second most murders in the state behind Richmond, which is at 44.

A 10-year-old girl was wounded in a shooting that saw her, her grandmother, and her sister shot- has died. The assassin was their neighbor, who then turned the gun on himself (not in the count given).

Victor Nieves, 34, had reportedly been binging on cocaine and over-the-counter drugs before he raced downstairs and opened fire, fatally shooting Fairbanks in the head, wounding her granddaughters, 10 and 12, and killing the family dog and himself, according to a Mass.Live interview with Nieves’ girlfriend.
