Calgary is doing well so far. Metro is 1.7 million and still only at 1. 300 km north Edmonton with 1.5 million is at 4. Edmonton has always had a significantly higher crime and murder rate than Calgary.

Baltimore with #27 (#25) ending a 7-days streak with zero homicides.

Of course, it's not like the shooting stopped in between, just that nobody was killed.

February historically is the "low" month IIRC.

they piloted a program in the western district last year that has showed success in reducing homicide YoY. I believe theyre deploying it citywide this year.

4 is indeed very high for Canada. NYC used to be below 4 pre-pandemic
