"Another Brickell supertall has just been approved by the Federal Aviation Administration.
888 Brickell will be permitted to rise to a supertall height of 1,042 feet above ground level, or 1,049 feet above sea level, according to a letter issued by the agency.
Approval by the FAA was granted on December 9 after around 8 months of review. The application was filed on March 31.
According to an October filing with county planners, 888 Brickell is planned to include:
259 residential units
52,144 square feet of health/fitness
38,727 square feet of food and beverage space
approximately 273 parking spaces
Studio Sofield is the building designer, with ODP the architect of record.
JDS Development Group is the developer."
"JDS founder and industry titan, Michael Stern, has developed some of the most monumental skyscrapers in the business, including, most recently, Brooklyn Tower and 111 West 57th Street in New York City. JDS is known for pushing the limits of design and development with projects in New York City that have become iconic landmark structures, such as the Walker Tower and the American Copper Buildings. Mr. Stern brought his magic touch to the Miami real estate market with highly acclaimed projects in Echo Brickell and Monad Terrace."

Approval for Austin's Waterline has been delayed according to the Business Journal
That article has a pay wall, but I did find another article that says:
Quote:
The denial from the commission, which was a near unanimous vote, requires Wilson Capital, architect HKS Inc. and landscape architect Nudge Design to revise the project. The only board member who did not vote was Commissioner David Carroll. The rest of the board members stated that the skyscraper did not meet Austin's urban design standards.
What does that mean? If I was on the commission I would have said the building was too ugly, lol.
Any chance of a complete redesign, or is this just minor?

Waterline is under construction. You are thinking of the Wilson. It was delayed by the design commission, which is not atypical. There will be back and forth about community benefits, public spaces, etc.
MIAMI : Demolition Permit Applied For At One Brickell City Centre Supertall Site
January 24, 2023
The demolition permit is for a building at 700 Brickell Avenue and was applied for on January 20, according to Miami Building Department records.
According to the newly filed demolition permit, total demolition of 221,243 square feet is planned, at an estimated cost of $1.35m.
One Brickell City Centre is planned to rise 68 stories. It is FAA approved for a height of 1,040 feet above ground.
The project will be mostly office space, with a restaurant and rooftop helipad.
Related Companies and Swire Properties are the developers.
Oh okay, I thought Waterline was still set to be the tallest in Texas. I didn't know Austin was planning two supertalls.
Yes, there are two separate projects a few blocks from each other. The rumor mill suggests a third, even. (Probably at the site of the Railyard condos, or maybe the old downtown post office).
Boston's is a long time coming. I ebb and flow on Boston's skyline, but I do think it would be nice if Boston built at least one 1000 feet skyscraper.
