We started with our Best Places to Live rankings, then considered factors such as access to parks and outdoor activities, cultural attractions, restaurants, professional sports teams, shopping venues, nightlife, concerts and the popularity of each location as a destination for flights. Finally, we ranked each place in these categories against the 100 most populous metro areas in the U.S. to come up with an overall score. Read on for the 30 Most Fun Places to Live.

re NYC, the ranking says: While the city is well-known for its high-end shopping and has more than 1,500 shopping venues throughout the metro area, the region’s massive population and few malls or shopping centers make it harder for people to easily access multiple stores at once.
I’ll take Charleston at #6 in 2021, the date of the article. We’re even more fun now and about to get funner. And the msa is about 814,000 as of 7/2022.
Miami not on the list yet Indy, Sacramento, Columbus and Fresno are and are more fun?….lost any credibility with me right there.
Sacramento MSA goes from Bay adjacent all they was to the Nevada line including all of Lake Tahoe.
Fresno MSA contains a lot of Yosemite
I've spent 5 days in Indy. It doesn't deserve to be 21st
