Nvidia's performance versus the software companies over the last few months is a good example of why you should take snapshots of market capitalization with a grain of salt. The Fortune 500 is a better list imo even if it's similar.

I was thinking the same thing, but their market cap surprised me.

Oops, I didn't see Texas.

It's on the list, but it's below Illinois per capita.

Some of its HQs are relocations that don't involve huge workforces. Some have been tied to lower costs.

Texas is good at drawing people, but doesn't stand out for six-figure salaries in tech or finance.

I'm not a very religious person at all, but if there is a heaven, then I don't believe a single current CEO of these corporations will go there.

I would bet one of these CEOs has donated more to charity than the top 1000 posters here combined.

There are many reasons to donate to charity.
Not all of them are selfless.

I may donate to get my name on something.
I may donate to get a family member into a school.
I may donate to reduce my tax liability.
I may donate to improve my public image.

But that’s still money that came out of their pocket to help the less fortunate. Some want credit. Some don’t.

The tax liability point isn't true. If you donate $100 million, you might save $30 million in taxes.

The other stuff is true, but not problematic. If you pay $20 million to get your name on a $200 million research building and you get some PR out of it, fine with me.

What pisses me off is when tiny, pathetic donations get huge PR...like $10,000 can get you a mention on a college football broadcast.
