This ranking is not about where people are moving to, it's where they would like to live if they could. Why on God's green earth would anyone pick a bland city like Dallas if LA cost the same? I surely have no clue and Ive been to Dallas numerous times. Oh snd its not just Dallas, replace it with any of the recent boomtowns, it's largely the same.
Some people like bland I guess(nothing wrong with wanting a change of scenery but compared to LA, Dallas is bland), or maybe they like state govts that oppress black voters, immigrants and gay people? Maybe they like Tornadoes or stiflingly hot summers and bone chilling winters? IDK? To each his own.
But let's keep it 100. If all things were equal among US cities as far as price and income the LA area would probably have between 25-30 million people.
Americans are still dreaming about moving to California more than other states. Here are the top states where Americans wish to move:
California — 27%
Florida — 25%
Hawaii — 22%
New York — 19%
Colorado — 17%
Almost 1 in 5 Americans Want to Move to Los Angeles If money were no object, Americans would prefer to move to Los Angeles and California. Migration data, however, shows that more people are moving to cities such as Austin, Raleigh, and Orlando.
Americans' dream cities are:
Los Angeles, CA — 19%
Atlanta, GA — 18%
Austin, TX — 17%
Las Vegas, NV — 15%
Miami, FL — 15%
This list is just like any other best place to live ranking. Some of the cities I would consider some i couldn't. I don't like the vibe of Los Angeles but I couldn't honestly say its a bad place. Rating a city based upon in and outbound migration is silly to me. I rate my cities based upon culture, type of energy, healthcare, rapid transit, bike infrastructure, recreation and what I would deem friendly.
Hey man, Why the heck isn't Dallas on this bogus list? It should be at the very top.
Dallas has Frisco, Plano and a glow-in-the-dark playground in Farmers Branch. Dallas has uptown also. Come on weve been advertising all this stuff all over the country to try to get businesses and people to relocate. We also has The Dallas Cowboys. THATS AMERICAS TEAM!
Lists schmlists. Can’t live with ‘em. Can’t live without ‘em.
They probably went heavy on affordability. Lists schmlists are doing that a lot now.
MB and Charleston are as apple and orange as they come aside from the Atlantic Ocean.
Definitely not based on affordability with several places being among the least affordable places in the US - San Francisco, San Diego, Los Angeles, Seattle and a few others are not very affordable to most. Even some of their locations in Florida are among the most expensive in the state - such as Naples at over $800K. Also some of their house prices are way off - the average house in Santa Barbara is $1.9M not $465K.
According to this very website, Minneapolis has a higher crime rate than 98.2% of all U.S. cities. Let that soak in: higher than 98.2% of all other U.S. cities. Not going downhill, you say?
I can't take this list seriously. And it has Nashville as number 17 lol.
