Anyway, these are the counties where the top 5% households average $750,000+

Counties Average Income, Top 5% Households
Metro Area------------2022

Western Connecticut, CT $1,096,056
New York, NY $1,074,096
Marin, CA $1,086,589
San Mateo, CA $1,050,578
Westchester, NY $975,822
San Francisco, CA $969,145
Santa Clara, CA $926,311
Hunterdon, NJ $853,522
Arlington, VA $847,382
Boone, IN $824,459
Norfolk, MA $822,682
Collier, FL $809,328
Morris, NJ $780,029
Nassau, NY $769,987
Williamson, TN $762,753
That’s ridiculous. So, essentially, what happened was that Connecticut’s wealthiest towns were sectioned off away from the middle class towns, and therefore, they automatically rank number one.

Any state can request that happen and they’d rank number one.

But it was actually a logical thing to do. And was very practical.

I’m not sure I agree with it, being from Connecticut and looking at their map. It eliminates more middle class towns like Trumbull and Fairfield, and the extremely impoverished city of Bridgeport, all which are very much part of the region’s economy.

It was a play by the state, the same way they reclassified crime and then claimed crime is lowering. Manipulation.

Isn't the vast majority of the growth in Atlanta in the suburbs?

A lot reported high income in Atlanta is leaving the city, Buckhead in particular. Let’s not forget many old buckhead residents wanted to secede just a few years ago. It’s not surprising. All the wealth is North Fulton/ Cherokee county.

Lower West CT is different than the SWCT Coast IMO. It makes good sense to break up Birdgeport from the Danbury orbit from a planning perspective.

This didn’t break up Bridgeport and Danbury - this broke up Stamford/Norwalk from Bridgeport.

If you think Brookfield, New Fairfield and Bethel have closer economic ties to Stamford and Norwalk than Bridgeport’s working class suburbs then I don’t think you’re very familiar with southwestern Connecticut’s living patterns.

I wasnt really considering Stamford and Norwalk, I could see where you'd group them together but apart from Bridgeport. Definitely a debatable move. I've been to Brookfield once for work (and Rowayton for recreation) but no I'm not familiar enough with suburban FFC.
