I believe I did find one homicide in the city of Charleston so far this year, pop. @156,000-159,000-ish? It happened in the West Ashley part. Census Bureau city pop. numbers are supposed to come out this month.

Cleveland seems to be mirroring D.C. both had similar rates in 2023 and both started the year way down but are seeing that decrease shrink. Cleveland ended April with its worst week in 9 months with 5, which pushes the total for the year to 31. That's still a 32 percent decrease, but the city had been between 40 to 50 percent down up until now.

The silver lining is that Cleveland's decrease percent should go back up because in 2023, the city had somewhere around 80 murders in an 80 day period from mid-May to end of July.

Overall for Northeast Ohio
Cleveland- 31
Cuyahoga suburbs - 15
Akron- either 7 or 8
Canton- 3

It is not so much that DC is bad, more like Baltimore is seeing a sharp decrease in homicide.

They finished April with a grand total of 9 homicides. I don't know when was the last time Baltimore has a month with single-digit homicide total.
