Which *state* would you argue has the best landscape for black upper class?
-Number, size and influence of black owned business in state
-strength and acknowledgement of network
-environment conducive to new black businesss
-openness and giving spirit of black wealthy individuals/families in the state
- promotion of black intellectualism and innovation
It’s not really just a raw numbers thread. And in that case, Texas would win.
Dallas and Houston have just as many black ppl in their metros combined as Atlanta. And they make about the same amount… and Houston is just as hot for black excellence at the moment. Add in the black people in Austin-Killeen area … its a little more interesting.
PG county is beast by itself. Add in the Bmore burbs.
NYC has the successful black immigrant group
And NC has several metros with large black populations. Ga isn’t runaway. If I gave the nod to GA, it is because it is home and has things like Tyler Perry studios over more standard things, but it is debatable.

Just like most Sunbelt cities, Atlanta usually gets destroyed on C-D when put up against cities in the Mid-Atlantic, Northeast, Chicago, Northwest and West Coast.

It isn’t just black immigrants, as some areas have had a solid black middle class for decades. Also, while the other areas in the state aren’t as big, you still have black entrepreneurs popping up across the state, not just NYC. An example I posted yesterday in an ongoing thread in the NY State forum from Rochester: https://www.city-data.com/forum/61903982-post2979.html

It depends on the topic too.
