I spent an awful lot of time in Shannon County, Missouri when I was younger, one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen. Its right in the heart of the Ozark National Scenic Riverways, but the grinding poverty was hard to look at.
How close do you live to one of these counties? Have you been to any of the counties on the list?
That is shocking. I make more than the per capita income of those counties and i'm a 20 year old Part-time bank teller.
One thing that i dont find surprising is that 16 KY counties are on the list and all of them are in Eastern KY. I've seen many posts on Eastern KY poverty.

Yeah, it seems like it's between Eastern KY and the Delta region of Mississippi. New Mexico is up there too.
Surprised not to see any counties in PA. Especially Fayette County.
