Which city has a nicer skyline? The booming Jersey City's modernistic, contemporary downtown skyline,
or Buffalo, NY's Historic Art Deco skyline filled with classic American Architecture?

(Photos taken in 2008 by myself - no copyrighted material)

JERSEY CITY:

OR

BUFFALO:

(I would have posted more to Jersey City, however, only 5 photos are allowed per post.
- Keep in mind should you decide to post some of your own on this thread as they are welcome!).

I'm 50-50. I love Jersey City's growing skyline, but cities like Buffalo have detailed masterpieces in their skylines that really gives a strong, historic - glory days feel to it that really makes a city like Buffalo that IMO makes up for a stagnant ungrowing skyline.

Its hard to say. Buffalo has great roots with some of those old buildings. When the city starts coming back it will already have a head start on a great skyline.

The Jersey City skyline seems to be growing almost overnight. There are not alot of buidlings yet but something about them clicks. The whole Upper New York Bay area is going to look awesome the way Brooklyn and Jersey City are growing.

Btw your first photo with the Statue of Liberty and Jersey City behind it really stacked the odds in favor of JC!

This is true - but, because the Statue of Liberty is actually located in NJ, not NY, I thought I would post that pic to be fair and all.

It is hard... JC is more modern with it's buildings but they are worth giving a second look. Buffalo on the other hand has had the same skyline since probably 1950 if that! Buffalo's architect is one of the best in the country too.

But, JC is still a very old city, it had to be since it was right across NYC. HENCE JC's historic section. It's like buffalo in that area. Older architect and a lot of history.

so all that said... JC is the winner. Not because i'm bias, but it's about the location, and JC kinda has more to offer all in all.

Hey, I can't argue with that! Just because I live in Buffalo and love it to death as I defend her to my grave, doesn't mean it has the best skyline. It might be a better place to live in with major league teams, cultural attractions, and the feeling of a small town within a major international city... Yet, it all depends on one's personal taste. Thus the reasoning I am at even standards between both skylines, not necessarily having to do with the actual life of the city itself.

Actually Liberty Island is part of NY but in New Jersey waters. So both states can claim it. Part of Ellis Island and Shooters Island are also in both NY and NJ. Complicated history but New York also once owned the small islands off the Connecticut shore (NY still has Fishers Island near the Connecticut/Rhode Island line) as well as Nantucket and Martha's Vineyard!
