Just a taste of the urban & suburban in Northern New Jersey.
Even with the Tudors. A few areas of Queens, (Middle Village, Forest Hills and few others) have Tudor houses. Parts of Nassau County also have Tudors, but Suffolk is completely different; bigger houses (newer) and zoned for more property.

I think LI is too isolated from the rest of the area. To get anywhere other than Long Island, you basically have to cross through or skirt around the city. That would make me feel trapped. From NNJ, you have more options. You can go to the city or you can head to the Poconos. You can go to Philly or down to Delaware without much problem.
