Sorry, but nothing in the NYC metro area can compare to LI's gold coast There's a reason why a lot of old stories from the 1920s took place here i.e. the great gatsby.

That's nonsense, and an exemplification of the "me me me-centric" attitude that pervades NY. Look at BPerone's pictures of NJ a few posts back. Those glorious houses are every bit as extravagent (and ridiculous) as the mansions on "LI's Gold Coast". What about Greenwich, CT? All 3 states in the tri-state area have amazingly gorgeous areas.

Old money comes from the north shore. It's been like that for years and years.

Understood, but there is a lot of places with old money elsewhere as well. Lots. I know that LI is the place you are most familiar with, but there are so many others, equal in beauty and wealth.

I can agree why you would say so but...

NORTH JERSEY CAN COMPARE

Lamberts Castle's, Paterson

Paterson Mill, Paterson

Copper Chair Mill, Bergenfield

Sacred Heart Cathedral (The biggest cathedral in the country) Newark

Newark Mansions

Jersey Cities historic district

The Cliffs George Washington and his army Climbed in 1776

(And my other pix i posted a page before)

Both places are absolutely beautiful. I want to thank both of you for the pics you have posted, I'm sure that I'm not the only one enjoying them.

Holy sh@# North Jersey is beautiful. Those row houses are awesome, the way the towns are laid out are pretty nice. North Jersey just wins in this thread, and I'm from Long Island.

This is a tough one because they have a lot of similarities. I live about a mile from the Queens/Nassau border so I'm in Long Island way more than I'm in Manhattan. So I would pick North Jersey because its a change in scenery. However I would sooner live in South Jersey (Wildwood) than in North Jersey.
