Because LA is the better baseball city by attendance, better NBA ball on the floor, far better college sports, exists in an athletic culture that produces more world class athletes in more sports relative to NY.
And has fans who are less likely to mindlessly dismiss such a simple question.
Outside of The Yankees,What other Teams are great or have a Great History ?
Mets ? Trash
Knicks ? Trash
Jet's ? Trash
Giants ? 50/50
Rangers ? Good History
Olyimpics ? Never
Football Game ever 100'000 in Attendance ? Never
College Sports ? Trash

My Lakers are trash right now...but I bet we win a championship before the Knicks ever do.
Anyone who asks why this is a question, obviously needs a lesson in history-Dodgers leave Brooklyn-first year in LA better than any year in Brooklyn-set records in attendance yearly-over 3 million more times than any franchise by far-meanwhile the Yankees never even exceed 3 million until 1999-seriously-that was it! The Dodgers first drew 3 million in 1978-21 years earlier-that tells you the better baseball city-oh-and the Dodgers drew over 3 million EVERY year from 1996-2010-the longest in baseball history. Meanwhile their colleagues in Orange County, The Angels, have drawn over 3 million for the last 13 years in a row. Case closed. UCLA 76,000 plus per game this year-leads Pac 12-USC 2nd 73,000 plus this year-Kings-183 consecutive sellouts, Clippers streak started in FEB 2011 for sellouts-the Lakers finally ended after 7 years-and it was only by a few...toss in LA has hosted the Olympics twice-has produced more professional athletes than any city in the US
-USC itself would rank higher than most countries in terms of how many Olympic athletes it has produced winning Gold Medals-speaking of which Both UCLA-first to 100 NCAA titles and USC are along with Stanford the top 3 Championship producing universities. Also UCLA most NCAA titles in basketball 11-USC in baseball 13-USC in football 11 years-which is right up there with Alabama and ND only having more. This list is endless...It's LA and it's not close
Goodness...if this current page is an accurate reflection the overall intellect of users here, well it's really just sad. It's worse than what you find in the youtube comments section, and that's saying something.
For what it's worth I think LA has a really good sports culture, something which people really shouldn't discredit due to a bunch of fanboys.

Yeah I dont think its that close. LA has been better for the last 50 years, and will now get 1 or 2 NFL teams back.
