...I have only been to a few, but I am young.
At least you are honest.
I am not so young and I could barely compile a list of 12 major cities that I have been to let alone what are my 12 favorites.

I suspect there are a lot of people here who do not know what they are talking about.

1. Toronto - had a great time there was really impressed at the street car system and how cosmopolitan Toronto was.
2. Mexico City - very intresting place and has very beautiful Spanish architecture. I instantly fell in love with this place.
3. New York City - haven't been here yet, but want too so bad.
4. Chicago - I don't know much about Chicago, but people allways talk highly of it so I'll give it a shot.
5. Vancouver - another Canadian city that I starting to like.
6. Montreal - seem like a beautifull place, and I would love to visit.
7. San Franncisco - who can't love this city?

12. Houston - I would like to see Houston and go to some of it's museums.
13. Dallas - looks like a cool place to see.
14. San Diego - like Balboa Park and find serenity in this beautifull city.
15. Atlanta - must see for me I got to go to the ATL.
16. Philadelphia - the city of brotherly love I want to see the liberty bell and the city center with it's beautifull skyline.
17. San Antonio - I want to check out the river walk heard good things.
18. Austin - has good live music.
19. Orlando - I want to see Disney World and friends and maybe check out the emerging downtown Orlando.
20. Memphis - looks like a infesting place.
21. New Orleans - Is the city still recovering?
22. Los Angeles - I live here and I love it. I would have put it on top of the list, but I didn't want to be too pretentious.

My favorite cities?
First off, I tend to dislike cities around 2 million or more, unless they have nicer weather-- so don't argue for New York or Chicago. I prefer my cities less congested and easy to move around. I also do not enjoy cities with endless miles of suburban sprawl or terrible city governments. Nicer weather is a big positive with me and may counteract congestedness! Decent food and good people are always a plus.

(tie) 1. Flagstaff AZ (a very very underrated and beautiful place)
1. Honolulu (paradise on American soil)
2. San Diego-my home town!
3. San Antonio -almost too big, but still a beautiful city that partys all night
4. San Francisco- best food next to New York
5. Vancouver- another underrated gem of a city
6. Portland OR
7. Seattle
8. Tampa/St. Pete
9. Baltimore (yeah it's cold and dumpy, but it was fun there)
10. Austin

if I had to rank my favorite large cities (which I would never live in)

1. New York -the greatest vibe of any city on Earth
2. Boston
3. Chicago
4. Dallas
5. L.A.
6. Philly
5. Miami
6. Atlanta
7.Houston
8. Montreal

(I live in DC)

1) Miami-great weather, nice beaches, amazing nightlife
2) Chicago-has more character than any city in America--much, much better than NYC and LA in my opinnion
3) DC-has a little bit of everything, and is one of the prettiest cities in america
4) San Diego-great beaches, women are unbelievable, great outdoor activities
5) San Francisco-If the high temp in July and Aug wasn't 60 degrees, this would be #1
6) Boston-great vibrancy
7) Seattle-West Coast version of Boston
8) Philly-Great restaurants, sports, and easy access to nyc and dc
9) L.A-Lots of fun and great weather but sprawl and traffic are outrageous
10) Baltimore-Little Philly
11) New York-Overrated... Overrated--Very fun to visit though
12) Portland, OR-Similiar to Seattle and San Fran but a little smaller
