As of 2009, which of those cities would you rather live in? Both cities are hit really hard by the recession, rising unemployment, and real estate slump, as well as rising crime rates. I'll still go with Atlanta though. It still has potential to turn things around and make progress. All it needs is better city leadership than what it's had for the last 8 years.

You are really getting tired with these obsessive comparisons between Atlanta and Chicago. This is seriously the fifth or sixth post that you've started comparing the two. I don't understand why you're worried so much about Atlanta becoming Detroit.

Atlanta no contest. Detroit is in decline and shows no signs of breaking out of it. Atlanta is booming economically both in its suburbs and the city. However, I certainly wouldn't mind a cool summer and a brutal winter. I'll take that over a mild winter and a blistering hot summer. Cold and snow just doesn't bother me like hot and humid, and where I live both winter and summer fit that criteria, so I know what I'm talking about.

I'm just really concerned about my city's future. I just feel like it's currently on the wrong path. People have always lumped those two cities in the same category, including on this board, and I hope I'll never have to agree with them.
