Atlantic City has to be one of the homeliest cities I've ever visited...the boardwalk included. There were high hopes for AC when the casinos came in, but they were never realized...outside of them, it's the same old tired mess...sadly.
Historic Charleston, on the other hand, is a gem.
It's not to say that NJ doesn't have some lovely seaside towns...they do. JMO that Atlantic City isn't one of them.
I'll take King St. and the Battery over the Boardwalk in AC any day of the week. Good taste always wins out over bad.
Yes, I am comparing the beaches of Charleston to the beaches of Atlantic City. Also, I am comparing things to do afterwards concerning entertainment once done with the beach. Atlantic City has great casinos and nightlife after the beach too. A person can’t say the same for Charleston because that is the most boring and lamest nightlife scenes that I have ever been out in my entire life. Going out in Charleston SC is the equivalent of going out in Mobile Alabama. If you like the Charleston beaches better then that is your opinion, but I doubt the majority feel the same.

Sorry. When I saw Hollywood, I automatically assumed it was California. LOL. But, why bring Florida's boardwalks into the duscussion when the thread is about NJ and SC?

But I do miss my White Castle... LOL
NJ does have bad towns and cities, which is the same as any state. However, stop to take a look at the state as a whole. Sc was voted third worst overall state for crime based on assault, burglary, motor vehicle theft, rape and robbery. Do you have any other false assumptions because I would be glad to correct you again. Most Dangerous States - WalletPop

I suppose it is a matter of preferences and taste. I'm not looking for a big nightclub scene, but rather access to good dining and shopping. Charleston certainly has that in abundance.
Since there are of couple of colleges there, I'm sure there is a scene for the "keggers for kiddies" crowd as well.

The entertainment of Atlantic City is more comparable to that of Myrtle Beach. If you want entertainment that is more refined and cultured, you go to Charleston. The Mobile/Charleston comparison is ridiculous.

Higher population density means there's not as much natural beauty overall because there's more developed land. Why is this concept so hard for NJ people to understand? Even if they live in peaceful suburbs, those suburbs tend to be dense in NJ (translation: a lot of buildings, not as much natural beauty)

I never said there is no natural beauty in NJ. I said SC has more natural beauty.

Also, I have been to SC and there wasn't any natural beauty. Actually, quite the opposite.
You answered your own question. You said natural beauty includes forests. Think of all the forests that had to be cut down to build houses and apartments for the 8.8 million people in the small landmass of New Jersey.

There is still a sh*tload of undisturbed forest in NJ.

Im originally from huntington wv, lived in bethelham PA, and Surf Side SC. I would often visit both Atlantic City and Myrtle Beach as a teenager.I had great memories of both areas, especialy the women. If I had to choose I guess Myrtle Beach, dont like the prostitution in Atlantic City as much though. One think I hate about SC are the rednecks out side of the beach.
