Don't call Jersey city the "6th borough." And it isn't mini NY. It's its own state, and it is going to stay that way
Rachael, when people (including many NYers) refer to Jersey City/Hoboken as the 6th Borough, they do not mean that in a literal sense...they mean that Jersey City/Hoboken, being very urban in nature, are very similar in environs and lifestyle to NYC. In fact, Jersey City/Hoboken, in my opinion, have much more in common with NYC than Staten Island and most of Queens. Staten Island and Queens are very suburban in nature. Come to my neighborhood in Downtown Jersey City and you'd think you were in Park Slope for sure.
And to be clear, NJ people do not want to be considered part of NY. We are a proud bunch, with our own great state. It is important to realize that both NJ and NYC depend on EACH OTHER, in many ways.
Not sure why you are so anti-NJ, but it's a bit off-putting.

You can't compare JC to the entire borough of SI and Queens though. It's one area.

YUP, I agree (but i know your only sayin it because your hatred for anything north jersey). I wouldn't want Jersey City to be a 6th borough, ITS jersey's! why let it lose its identity. But to call it a mini MANHATTAN makes sense, but there's a reason why it's called Jersey City, because it's in new JERSEY.
Kind of annoying that so many people consider anything in North Jersey an extension to NYC, Jersey City is not New Yorks in any way shape or form.
I'm surprised to find people on here aren't calling Buffalo, NY a Mini New York.
A lot of times Buffalo is reffered to to NYC as 1/8th everything, but has better aspects as well.
Love our Buffalo skyline! And it's growing for the first time in 35 years!
For that matter we should call JC the 5th Borough because it seems more associated with NYC than Staten is!!! (no offense)!!! Plus JC has great density (probably matching some of the most densley populated neighborhoods of NYC in some parts of JC), but to me there accent is different from NY'rs for some reason!!!
You proved that JC has a WAY better and bigger skyline than Buffalo!!! (I don't like the Bills so that put you guys in two situations with me lol, and I believe they are moving to Toronto right?)
