I'm getting ready to move out of Michigan. I want to move somewhere with the type of climate as southern california hawaii or florida.
My problem is I'm hesitant to move to either of these places due to Earthquakes and Hurricanes. Did anyone see how many THOUSAND people got killed in that earthquake in China? Does the San Andreas Fault not scare anyone? Also arent hurricanes more and more of a threat in places like florida?
I've really been considering the Piedmont (central) region of North Carolina but even there I feel like there will be a lot of rain and severe weather as hurricanes and tropical storms tail off through there all the time.
Does anyone know where I can have 55-90 degree yearly weather range with the majority of months over 70 and be safe from any type of severe weather or other natural disaster?
The South & Gulf coasts are prone to hurricanes. Interior sections can receive tornados. Both areas (believe it or not) are susceptable to earthquakes! Flooding can happen everywhere.
Are you seriously trying to compare China to the USA when it comes to BUILDING SAFETY? Do you realize how few people are killed by earthquakes in the US every DECADE? The last major quake to hit CA was 15 years ago. Big quakes are very rare in CA and do strike often at all nor do they kill that many people. Some people are way too scared of quakes than they should be, they are far less deadly than hurricanes, tornadoes, and floods.
Nevada is the only state listed that receives the least amount of natural disasters. The only natural disasters I notice there are flash floods. But it gets cold in NV in winter too so I'm not sure if its warm enough for you.
HI, CA, and NV are going to have the least amount of severe weather. You really just need to get over your fears I think.
Colorado is a place to consider. Very little rain and if you live on the south east plains, like Pueblo, they get little snow and its not that cold in the winter. In fact today it will be about 80 here.
The closest I can think would be Hawaii and Nevada
