Now that I think about it, this is the 6th Olympics in the west. God certainly smiled on this part of the world.

Los Angeles 1936
Squaw Valley 1960
Los Angeles 1984
Calgary 1988
Salt Lake City 2002
Vancouver 2010
I went to school for a year in Squaw when I was younger, such a small place I always wondered what the ceremony was like and if it was the smallest place to ever host the Olympics? IDK,but the West has definitely been blessed.

Not to be contrary or anything, but can you please elaborate on how you went to school in Squaw (I assume you mean Squaw Valley)? Basically, this is my neck of the woods, and I can't think of any colleges anywhere near here that aren't community colleges or in the Central Valley (where I commute to school). I love the region, and am amazed that we hosted the Olympics, despite that fact that it was 20+ years before I was born. I would love to see a Tahoe Winter Olympics at some point. That would be incredible. But...I totally agree. Western North America is the most beautiful place in the world; absolutely blessed by God (or whichever deity you choose to believe in).

Last August, and SF the week prior. As a casual observer, I didn't find the homeless presence in Vancouver to be nearly as apparent as in San Francisco.
I spent most of my time in the West End area, FWIW.

Squaw Valley is actually quite a large ski resort. Though, the area as a whole isn't too big if that is what you were saying.

The mountain is large..the village is small and Olympic Valley all together is small, the closest towns being Truckee and Tahoe City..

There is a boarding school in Squaw Valley (SVA),if you've been to the resort you've seen the school. I do agree though a Tahoe Olympics would be very fitting.

I'd go with Vancouver because Canada is IMHO; far ahead of the United States as far as social issues are concerned...for example equal marriage rights.

I voted San Fran and have spent little time in Vancouver, but honestly think Vancouver is one of the coolest cities I have ever been too sans warm weather for the winter Olympics. But can't wait to get back and explore more
