Yes these two cities are often compared, both at a similar latitude...Perth is actually a lot wetter (869 mm vs. 250 mm). Funny I was thinking if I moved to the US San Diego would be one of my options. I can't speak for it, but it would be a trade-off...more excitement in California, but generally less livable country, more smog/congestion/superficiality. Perth is way more isolated, lacks proper mountains. Both have nice beaches and fine settings. Perth's skyline is far more characterful and beautiful imo.
If we are going by sky line I would give it to Perth.
If we are going by where I would want to live I have to say San Diego. That is because even though I love Australia, was there last year and want to go back next year, it is to isolated for me. Its a long flight to get anywhere. Although since I love to fly maybe that should be a positive lol
I only wish I had the experience to speak about Perth. Love to visit some day.
