If you think theres any activity on non-game days that can compare, youre outta your mind, and I say that as someone who has Chicago on their list of relocation cities and a Blackhawks fan.
That was one of the sole disappointments of Chicago when I went there last year. Theres nothing around it.
There are projects in the works however to build the area up though.
Yeah. What does that have to do with the NBA and NHL and these venues?
This is the area around MSG, what IM USED to.
This is the area around the Verizon Center.
This is the area around the United Center
Yeah, I don't know why anyone would try to compare an area like Gallery Place where Verizon Center is in D.C. to United Center in Chicago. Gallery Place is vibrant 24hrs a day.
If we're talking just the arenas themselves, then the United Center is the better arena, imo. But as others have already pointed out, the area around the United Center is not nearly as good as the Verizon Center. I was actually pretty shocked how desolate the area around the United Center, considering the type of city that Chicago is.
The United Center is in a pretty crappy location. It was finished in what, like, 1994? They'd probably do things a bit differently if they were building a basketball arena in 2014 instead.
Although it's almost 20 years old, the United Center (Staple Center) is among the top 2 best looking NBA/NHL arenas. Verizon is nice too.
