True!
No one can really mount a convincing argument of why one over the other and I have never seen that on this board before.
Even Montclair is reduced to three word sentences in defense of his beloved SF.

This was even hard for me LOL SF was my clear choice but I love Boston and they do have there similarities but i think the subtle differences gives each city enough unique character to be great.

I think they are very similar in some areas, yet very different in others.
They are the most similar in cost of living. Both extremely high in that NY range. I would give aestethic appeal to San Francisco. In my opinion it is definately one of the nicest looking cities in the country. Boston doesn't compare with skylines and aestethics. Boston's streetscape might be a bit better. San Francisco's streetscape does not equal it's skyline. There both very liberal. While Boston definately has it's history, so does San Francisco. Boston is more of a sport town. Academically Boston reigns superior. Nightlife, I'd give the edge to San Francisco. Weather,--San Francisco. Natural Beauty,--San Francisco. People, this one get's hard. Since NYC is my favorite city through and through their rivalry with Boston paints a grim picture of Bostonians. I think they can be a a combination of Blue collar, White collar, and highly pretentious. I am sure my personal beliefs weigh in a bit. As far as San Francisco. They can be a bit uppity and pretentious themselves. In the end it would come down to what works for you. For me I like a nice skyline and better weather. My vote goes to San Francisco. While Boston is nice. San Francisco is just so damn pretty....

I'll take San Francisco by a long shot. Boston is nice but it can't match the beautiful setting and architecture of San Francisco.

Also, Boston folks are too uptight..... much rather hang with a west coast hippie than uptight east coast types....

San Francisco for me too. Boston is one of my favorite north american cities, but Frisco is my favorite.

No way does Boston's streetscape beat San Francisco. Name one street in Boston thats anywhere near as vibrant as Broadway, Mission, Valencia, or Market? Ive spent much time in both. Like Boston in many ways more than SF. More historical, public transit is easier, etc. But when it comes to streetscape San Francisco is second only to NYC. Boston ain't even close.
