Definitely agree with San Diego... city was cool in the day then... wtf happened? Maybe everybody drives down to Mexico and L.A. on the weekends.

Where were you? The Gaslamp District downtown is packed every night with people clubbing and bar hopping. And the same goes for Garnett Ave in Pacific Beach. There are other areas with nightlife but those two are the main areas that have tons of bars and clubs. I don't understand how anyone could think SD doesn't have nightlife unless they stayed out in the far suburbs where there is none.

It was 9 yrs ago so maybe 9-10yrs ago, but when I was there on a Friday night it was dead and the bars aren't close together. Like in Milwaukee where they are all connected.

In the Gaslamp Downtown? If so then that sounds about right from what I've heard, that downtown has improved dramatically in the last decade. I've only been here for about 8 years and only 21+ for 5 years so I wasn't familiar with the Gaslamp till maybe from 2004 on. And there are lots of bars and clubs right next to each other now, 5th Ave can be difficult to walk down at times b/c of the crush of people.

Compared to other similar sized cities San Diego can hold its own when it comes to nightlife. Like it was said before, the Gaslamp and PB have a pretty good bar scene. Both these hoods have many drinking establishments within close proximity to each other. There are also a good amount of cool neighborhood joints in the areas surrounding Balboa Park.

I imagine Salt Lake City doesn't have that great of a nightlife. I'm curious can anyone comment? I think Utah's beautiful, but I've gotta admit that I like a good nightlife.

What about the Asians? SJ is packed with Asians.
