Michigan's coastline is surely longer than California's- just look at a map. The Great Lakes are warmer during the summer than the ocean as well. I'm not even sure why they wouldn't be comparable.

Hawaii
California

and, ummmm......

well, I've never actually been to Hawaii.
let's just list states where I've been to a beach, cuz they're all good:

Massachusetts!!, Maine, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Connecticut, Florida, Illinois, and California.

Its basically Hawaii, Florida, and California in any order. Thats the 3 states that come to my mind when I think of beaches.

Hawaii and Florida both have amazingly swimable beaches that bring out the kid (see party animal) in you. California has an amazingly beautiful coastline that brings out the poet in you. However, I did spend some time on Catalina Island during an El Nino year. The water was great then.

The great Lakes freeze up in the winter,DO the Great lakes Beaches have Waves,A pier where I Can hang out and enjoy the Views with the Nice Sea Breeze,A Mc d's Place were I Could easily walk, eat,and walk back to the beach to Surf or enjoy the sun Warming me Up,Do they have Bike lanes so I can ride my Bike on the road enjoying the fresh air,sun,breeze as I Ride.Don't get me wrong Michigan beaches are beautiful but can they offer what Ca Beaches Offer.

Me too The water was actually Swimmable and during the El nino the Ca water temps go up 15 Degrees with is much better.
