I like good music, origin doesn't really matter.
I will say this, I was in NYC(all boroughs) last week and all I heard in cars and blaring headphones while on the train was southern music....
I'm from New Orleans myself(born and raised) and I like Northern Rap more than Southern Rap.
Most Southern Rappers may have the beats but when it come lyrical skill the Eest Coast(such as New York City) wins. Besides, some of the Southern Rappers say that their songs are "laid back" but in the way I see it I don't consider a song with quick beats and loud bass and all to be laid back.
If you really want sonething like a rap song to be laid back then I suggest you listen to some Old School Dr. Dre like from one his albums "The Chronic".
Would any of you consider Mid-west as "Northern Rap"
The mid-west is more like a hybrid of the two. I remember back in the 90's when crucial conflict came out they sounded they were from Mississippi or something.

I like northern Hip Hop more because it is more lyrical. The southern Hip Hop is more commercialized. For me lyrical means talent, and commercialized means no talent. For example, crank dat souldja boy, superman that h, it makes no sense. I could go on with the list. Well that just me. Which one do you like more? and why?
