[quote=Summersm343;27443694]Sure, there is, but mostly on the outer fringes of the city.. other than that, you have to head to the suburbs if you want something like that.[/QU

So what is the problem their are people who want a surb like area without leaving the city, it is one of Houston stronger selling point.. My area is a mix of new and victorian style homes , but go two blocks up and your looking at _610 and I -45 . with a five mins straight shoot into uptown and med-center

I don't mean to bash your city, but you people act like Houston's SUCH an amazing place! And act as tho its better then Philadelphia, when you know its not. If Philly's city, or metro was that size it would tumble your stats!

Philadelphia:
Size (city): 142.6 sq miles (369.3 km²)
Pop (city): 1,536,471 (2011)
Size (metro): 5,118 sq miles
Pop (metro): 6,398,896 (csa)

Houston:
Size (city): 627.5 sq miles (1,625 km²)
Pop (city): 2,145,146 (2011)
Size (metro): 10,062 sq mi
Pop (metro): 6,191,434

Let the stats speak for themselves!!!
what are we comparing ??

The fact that most of Houston's success comes from its enormous size...

That makes no sense. If you want suburban living, live in the suburbs...

why when I can live in a dense houston area, while still staying connected to the city ? I can still catch one bus to downtown, uptown, energy corrider , med- center , etc and still have a house with a lawn and back yard. That mean I can work and go to school all without to much hassle

Yes, but I can walk to work, to the bar, to shops, to restaurants, to parks and just about anything else in a vibrant, walkable, urban city. Anything I can't walk to I can take public transit to (subway or street cars). You can't find any of that in Houston... but you can find everything Houston has to offer in Philadelphia's suburbs.

If I wanted suburban living, why would I move to Houston when I could just move to a suburb of Philadelphia? If you want urban living, you have no choice but to move to another city.

I see you are not getting the point.

and 10 mins from downtown by bus.. 15 by white oak bike trail meaing I can ride my bike into the heart of downtown Houston without ever having to use a surface road.. am my area is not even the most vibernrate so what are you talking about ???

I could walk into downtown houston on lazy day if I wanted and it would take no more than 25 mins..

on one said on my apartment is surb style homes and on the other is the Downtown skyline.. as big as day

The City of Houston has the ammenities of the City of Philadelphia in a much more suburban setting, with inadequate rail transit.

Let's move on.

this is the truest statement said so far this being the point just because Houston has surb style area, it has them in a away that does not reduce the ammeneties of a major city.. like I said even in a surbs type area most things are within walking distance within the loop
