Personally, I think Charlotte should be a top 25. I am not sure where it should go on the list, but it most certainly should be listed IMO.

I've noticed that retail some how takes a downtown from a "10" to a "2" on the forums. Having downtown supermarkets, a hospital (Presby), rail service, sports arenas, high rise condos, museums, performing arts theaters, SEVERAL restaurants, an IMAX theater, a bowling alley, a Ritz Carlton hotel, a regular movie theater, SEVERAL dance clubs, etc don't mean squat if you can't buy cheap clothes downtown.

With the exception of rail, name me a major downtown in the south that DOESN'T have all that?

There is also an NBA arena, an NFL stadium, condo towers (over 25 floors tall), a Ritz Carlton Hotel, and much more in Charlotte's downtown. The only thing missing in Charlotte's downtown is retail (and many southern downtowns have THAT problem; not just Charlotte).

Sounds like you just described Indianapolis.

Substitute NFL for MLB and you have Houston's. Except I wouldn't say retail is missing. "Limited" might be a better descriptor.

^The Houston Texans don't play downtown?

!4thandYou, if that sounds like Indianapolis then Charlotte and Indianapolis have quite a few things in common.

They play at Reliant Stadium which is next to the now-empty Astrodome. It's about six or seven miles out from downtown. One could get to the stadium from downtown using light rail, however. The Astros and Rockets play downtown.
