Very interesting and I notice the usual Michelin starred restaurants, but I like seeing other places too.
Note: Forbes was previously known as the Mobil Guide, some of you may recall that. Mobil created the first five-star rating system and built up quite a reputation over the years, but then was acquired by Forbes, which continued the ratings under their brand.
Anyhow,

However, where the Mobil Travel Guide was aimed at the broad cross-section of the American traveling public, Forbes' ratings focus only on high-end travel. The Mobil guide used to have a separate three-star rating system for cafeterias, for instance.
I can't comment on the selection criteria, but the service in LA has always held its restaurants back from serious consideration.
Recalling what I said about Forbes vs. Mobil in post 2, I note that the only restaurant on the list in Pennsylvania is in the resort community of Laurel Highlands and that Philadelphia, which does have some serious high-end dining even after the end of Le Bec-Fin, has none at all.
And I would say that resort or tourist destinations are probably overrepresented relative to cities or business travel destinations on this list. I will wager that those two Rhode Island establishments are in Newport rather than Providence, for instance.
Rhode Island has 2 restaurants but Chicago, world renowned food mecca, only got 1? aight lmao
Rhode Island has really good food/culinary scene. I’m not surprised its up there twice honestly. I can’t imagine there is some built in pro-Rhode Island bias at Forbes…

World renowned food mecca? They're not going to give a five star rating to a hot dog food cart, my man.
