And playground cities are plain jane how? Shouldnt they be the least plain jane?

Omaha has the Qwest center which consistantly ranks in the top 10 in the world for ticket sales.

We have the Durham Western Heritage museum.

We have the Henry Doorly Zoo (One of the best in the country)

We have everything Tulsa has but Omaha is DEFINITELY "Plain Jane".

I think you have to take into account topography, climate, etc. Just kind of boring and nothing out of the ordinary.

I have a really hard time believing this statement, care to verify this claim with some kind of proof such as a link?

Just about EVERY city in the US has a twin (another city of similar size or importance). NYC is the only unique American city. PERIOD!!! Outside of NYC, America is a plain Jane country.

I really hope that was sarcasm. Otherwise you are a VERY narrowminded individual.

I found this - it may not be in the top ten now, but that doesn't mean it hasn't been. This is just for year-to-date this year - I'm sure the number fluctuates from year to year. Tulsa's BOK Center Makes Top 10 - NewsOn6.com - Tulsa, OK - News, Weather, Video and Sports - KOTV.com |

Unless you are an outdoors enthusiast, Phoenix is a major plain jane. Cityphiles steer clear!

Travel the ENTIRE country like I have, and you WILL understand my post. Unlike most of the people on these forums, I have actually stepped foot in every major town in the lower 48 states more than twice. How you might ask? A long career as an over the road trucker. During my down times, I explored cities I had never seen via local mass transit (much cheaper than renting a car). As a matter of fact, I remember Austin as having one of the cheapest bus fares of almost any city I visited. I thought that was pretty cool!!! Any way, America as a whole tends to repeat itself in some form or fashion if you have seen enough of it. NYC is the only city that does not have a 'twin'. I am sorry if my statement hurts your civic pride, but it is the truth. Take it from a guy who has seen EVERY major city in person. I know New Yorkers tend to brag and brag and brag about their city, but they can back up their claims. NYC is by far America's most unique city. Even Vegas has 'twins' (Reno and Atlantic City just to name a few).

I travel quite a bit and couldn't disagree more. Reno and Atlantic City are absolutely nothing like vegas, other than the fact that they have gambling. There are cities that share similar characteristics but not many that have twins.
