To keep this short. I plan on relocating to the Fort Knox area in KY (family due to BRAC) and my cousin is relocating to Fort Campbell area in KY (in the army).

In short which area would ya'll say is better, Fort Knox (Elizabethtown/Louisville closeby) or Fort Campbell (Clarksville, TN closeby)?

I have been to both - by far Fort Campbell is the better of the two. The facilities at Fort Campbell are much better and the communites are much better.

That said, with Human Resource Command among others moving to Fort Knox it should help the area in the years to come.

Fort Campbell. Most of Fort Campbell is in Tennessee. You can live in Tennessee (no state income tax) and do your shopping in Kentucky (lower sales tax).

There are some nice areas near Ft Knox (Etown or Louisville north of I-265 is nice) but the immediate area is a complete dump filled with cheap bars and strip clubs. West Point KY is probably the nastiest town I've ever seen in my life, I seriously think anyone without a mullet would get shot if they walked down one of those streets.

You cant transfer anywhere else? lol

Neither of the two towns are desireable, but Clarksville is a bit better. Just stay north in Clarksville if you can (near the Tiny Town Rd area), the south sections of town are rough and the town struggles with high crime. Ft. Campbell itself is pretty decent.

Steve-o, you sure you have that right? When was the last time you were in Clarksville?
