Yea, I could even argue Carolinians are more hardcore. Northern and Southern versions.

There's also borough pride, I always root for the Yankees & Mets but when its Yanks vs Mets the Mets have no choice but to bring home the victory (although that almost never happens).

City Pride first then State pride

Seattle "The Emerald City'

Washington is a great state though - no state income tax and great scenery makes it really great!

For me, while living in Pennsylvania it was about equal. I loved my city and I loved my state; however, I would say I had a bit more state pride than city pride in general.

Now, after living in Florida, I have neither...With the Pee Wee Herman debacle in Sarasota and the Katherine Harris (dangling chad election) vote fixing controversy; I am equally ashamed of both the city and state where I currently reside.

i have three sources of location-based pride:

City pride (SF)
Regional pride (Bay Area, as well as NorCal as a whole)
State pride (all of California)

Might as well say i have four sources, because i do love this entire country as well...but city/region/state are tops, naturally.
