I think so....its just an important distinction between "park" and "national park"

National Parks typically don't have private enterprise and towns in them. It's also misleading to say that its larger than Yellowstone, Everglades, etc....while that may be true, its not a National Park like those.

It's still a park, regardless though. There are state parks too. The fact that there is publicly and privately owned land within the park still shouldn't take away from the fact of it's size.

I had no idea that 40,000 people in NH spoke french as a first language, very interesting. Makes total sense though.

Any of the states that touch Quebec will have some people that parle Francais. For instance, I had a classmate in school that lived in Plattsburgh NY that told me that she would hear people speaking French at the mall and stores in the area. Considering it is a small city an hour south of Montreal, it makes sense. Here's an interesting site I came across in regards to French in NY State: http://www.utm.edu/staff/globeg/nyadvocat.html

I think J'ville meant to say drive East into Vermont. It is possible in the part of NY State by the village of Whitehall.

No I meant drive west from New York to Vermont... and yes it's at one particular spot near Whitehall. There is a spur of Vermont that comes down to the west of the NY border. So where normally you would get to Vermont by driving east, here you can be in New York, drive west and hit Vermont.

Nope they meant west into Vermont. Out of Whitehall go North on 9 to 10 (Doig St) then instead of following 10 East where it turns, take the Left and take East Bay Road into Vermont, which is to your West at that point.

The only reason I know that is because I lost a bet once on this exact question. Next time I was in the area (used to live in Maine and travel all over the Northeast) I had to go see for myself, just to drive West from NY into Vermont.

I'm sorry, you're right and that's what I meant, but was thinking something else.
