How about...Muskegon, MI?
If someone's never heard of a town, there's no way to have a real opinion. Would be better to put some effort to list a town that's at least somewhat known.
Never been there, but I like that area of Michigan. Muskegon's in the Grand Rapids area and on Lake Michigan. Very cold and snowy.

Chattanooga, TN
Nice downtown. Metro is not good, stores closing down. Lack of infrastructure and good jobs. Backwards culture.
Seems safe, corporate, and bland. If I got moved out there for my next client project and my job site were in Southfield or Redford or Novi or whatever, I'd take the longer commute and live in Detroit.
Deep Northern California. Feels more like Oregon than California. Lots of mountains and trees.
